FARGO, N.D. — Can prosecutors persuade jurors beyond a reasonable doubt when and where Dru Sjodin died?
Does it matter?
Those questions will come to the fore this week as prosecutors wrap up their case against Alfonso Rodriguez Jr., charged in U.S. District Court here with kidnapping the 22-year-old college student from Pequot Lakes, Minn., and causing her death.
Some of the concluding evidence will be wrenching, including autopsy and crime scene photographs. Much could depend on the outcome of a hearing this week on whether Ramsey County Medical Examiner Michael McGee will be allowed to tell jurors about his autopsy results and his analysis of other evidence.
